In 2017, Compass Group, a British contact foodservice company, decided to supplement their food and support services with a website “Nourished Life” where consumers can access expert information regarding lifestyle, food and nutrition.
A report conducted by NHS England, in 2017, revealed that obesity prevalence increased from 15% in 1993 to 27% in 2015. Moreover, only 26% of adults were found to be eating the recommended 5 or more portions of fruit or vegetables a day and this is having an enormous impact on the generations to come; already 1 in 5 children in Reception, and over 1 in 3 children in Year 6 are classified as obese or overweight.
Compass Group is aiming to combat the UK’s current health and wellbeing crisis by educating people; they are ensuring consumers have information that is both readily available and easily digestible. For Compass Group it is about more than just weight loss. Their main aim is to inspire people to create a healthy lifestyle by showing them how to incorporate small changes that will ultimately leave a big impact on their lives.
Healthy Mind Happy Life
The focus of the website is to provide consumers with a health toolkit that promotes a healthy mind and subsequent happy life. The toolkit can use to help people make healthier choices. The initiative incorporates Compass Groups 2020 Health strategy and primarily focuses on facilitating a network whereby nutritional experts and practitioners alike can directly interact with consumers by sharing their breadth of knowledge in areas such as: food and nutrition, lifestyle, sleep and recipes in a way that is free and easy to access.
This story shows how Compass Group supports Goal 3: Good Health and Well-being, specifically Target 3.4: “By 2030, reduce by one third premature mortality from non-communicable diseases through prevention and treatment and promote mental health and well-being.”
